《清明》——唐代·杜牧

清明时节雨纷纷，路上行人欲断魂。

借问酒家何处有？牧童遥指杏花村。

Translation:

During the Qingming Festival, the rain falls in continuous drizzle,

The travelers on the road are almost soul-torn.

I ask where the tavern is, and the shepherd boy points to the peach blossom village in the distance.

无花无酒过清明，兴味萧然似野僧。

昨日邻家乞新火，晓窗分与读书灯。

Translation:

Without flowers and wine to celebrate Qingming,

My spirits are desolate, like a hermit in the wild.

Yesterday, I borrowed new fire from my neighbor,

Early this morning, I lit my reading lamp with it.

佳节清明桃李笑，野田荒冢只生愁。

雷惊天地龙蛇蛰，雨足郊原草木柔。

Translation:

On the joyous Qingming Festival, peach blossoms and plum blossoms smile,

In the wild fields and graves, only sorrow is born.

The thunder stuns the earth and sky, awakening the serpents and dragons,

The rain has fallen sufficiently, making the grass and trees on the outskirts soft.

《清明》——清代·袁枚

纸灰飞作白蝴蝶，泪血染成红杜鹃。

日落狐狸眠败草，山空鸟雀噪昏烟。

Translation:

The paper ashes fly like white butterflies, the tears mixed with blood stain the red azaleas.

As the sun sets, foxes sleep among the withered grass, birds in the empty mountains chirp amidst the smoky haze.
